Poetry For the Body

Poems Inspired By My Jewelry Creations

Amulets and talismans, jewelry has a long history of being more than just something pretty to wear. Amulets of old protected the wearer, other pieces symbolized something the wearer believed in, and talismans were assigned magical powers. In modern times, jewelry has become mainly an indicator of status or a decorative element to one’s wardrobe.

When I design jewelry, my main mission is to create a piece that will not only connect with a wearer but enhances the wearer in some way. Usually they are “statement pieces” suited for women who want to attract attention. I believe that wearing a piece of jewelry can give a boost to one’s personality or state of mind. Thus they can become personal wearable talismans. The poems I wrote for these pieces hopefully express the magical feeling that can help the wearer transcend the banality, negativity, and dark moments of every day life.
